In late May, myself and three other journalists were awarded Tyee Fellowhips (two investigative and two solutions-oriented) to embark on in-depth reporting topics we set forth in proposals.

I'm nearing the end of my research and will be publishing a series soon (August 2006) in The Tyee.

The judging panel consisted of Mary Lynn Young, Ross Howard Dr Minelle Mahtani.

On April 22nd, 2006, I was awarded GOLD at the BCYCNA Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards gala, held out at the River Rock casino in Richmond, B.C.

The BCYCNA stands for the British Columbia and Yukon Community Newspapers Association, and my winning piece (in the Outdoor Recreation category) is a feature about geocaching ("Cache me if you can," Feb 09, 2005) that I wrote for the Vancouver Courier.

The judges had this to say: In this article, the author succinctly explains the lure of a relatively new sport. Well-researched and packed with interesting characters and technical data, Coppin's sustained narrative is comprehensive, lively, accurate and gripping.
